Montmartre

Woke up this morning and biked with the whole family to Montmartre. Trixie sat in her velib basket a good 10 minutes before deciding to scare the living shit out of me and take a dive out. (We think she really wanted to go to the bathroom and the basket was making her have to go) She was adorable though and everywhere we pedaled, I could hear "mignon" or "le chien" so I knew that she was quite the eye catcher. We caught breakfast at some random cafe across from a random church built buy Eiffel. I didn't go in but Aaron did. It was only about 100 years old.

Check out this bad ass dragon stained glass. What a fun church. Supposedly, there are organ recitals every morning at 10. I'd hate to live next door, but sounds cool for once or twice.
Montmartre was beautiful, filled with people. We did some vintage shopping but most of the vintage here is actually "retro" or even just "80s" which is fine and  dandy if you're a hipster. If you're a dancer like me and want 50's or before, you will have some trouble finding what you want. Anyway, we discovered that we might just be book people on this trip which is bad because books are heavy. We found an amazing nutella cookbook. Mmm, made me think of Coco. We saw lots of fun shops, like a bon bon place that had these cute little 'people' marshmallows. I freakin' love marshmallows in Europe. They're usually just long ropes that you cut with scissors. I remember buying some with my sister in Belgium when I was 10.
We stopped by the artists' area and pondered over getting a silhouette cut out of Trixie. But we couldn't be those people, now could we? I loved this one artist's palette. Look how dirty it is!
We couldn't go to Montmartre and not see the Sacre Coeur. It was beautiful and I loved that the sun came out. The white against the blue sky is gorgeous! Trixie thought it was not bad, but preferred the park.
Just loved this house. I want it. Please? It was on the backside of the hill of Montmartre.
Trixie spent about 5 hours out walking around. She's getting a lot more walking here than back home, mainly because we don't have a backyard.
Here we are on the velib. By the end of the day, Trixie was exhausted and we went to see a movie. Yes, another movie. We wanted to see Jurassic Park 3D, but it was sold out. So was Oblivion....so we saw Mud, a movie starring Matthew McConahagh. The subtitles were easier to understand at times than the dialogue, as it took place in the south. Instead of saying something like "je ne parle pas" they'd say "je parle pas" which I found out later means the same as "I aint speaking" as opposed to "I am not speaking." Makes perfect sense now.
