The Louvre

Hello Gorgeous! Today was another day off of school. (I think it was a religious holiday and most French people take the whole 5 days off and leave the city.) I went to ballet class and learned the word "cuisse" which means "thigh" because I wasn't doing the right thing with my own apparently. Oh well, fear is a great way to learn something new. Aaron and myself got our new velib passes today which allow us to skip checking in at the station and just go straight up to a bike. Score! Biked to the Louvre at 3:30 to catch the last 2 1/2 hours before closing.
We split up which ended up being the best way for us to see the museum. Why? Because I hate art museums and he loves them. I brought my notebook and some charcoal and instead spent all my time looking at sculptures. I didn't realize that maybe I might enjoy art museums more if I focus on one type of art and really get into it.
Here's my L'amour et Psyche!
And here is Antonio Canova's version.
Here's Venus Callipyge by Francois Barois. I absolutely loved the draping on this. And I was damn proud of her front foot. Feet, faces, and hands are so hard to do, especially with the chunk of charcoal I happened to buy.
How creepy is this skeleton. Aaron said that I sketched it with my brain, not my eyes. Damn you brain!
The Winged Victory! The best part about sketching at a museum is that people won't stand in front of you for fear of ruining art being made right there. Yeah charcoal!
Look how tiny Mona Lisa is. What a fuss! I think people assume that since she's so famous, she's big, but no, she's pretty average.

She photobombed me!
